Birthday parties for your little ones are pretty much straight-forward. Pick a favorite cartoon character or television show and that can be your theme. Retired? Not So Much.

When I reached the ripe old age of 65, I gladly said good-bye to my 9 to 5 job. I was expecting to enjoy my retirement years sleeping in until noon and staying in my pajamas until three. Unfortunately, old habits are hard to break and that got boring after about a week. I found myself looking for things to do, and eventually my search led me to a golf school in Florida, right in my own town. I have always enjoyed golf as a past time and consider myself to be fairly adept at the game. I wanted to improve even more, so I decided to enroll in the school.

The school I chose was perfectly matched to my needs. I was in a one on one class with my instructor, and he was very patient and taught me where I was going wrong with my game. After a week at the school, my technique had improved tremendously. I continued to practice after I left and even scheduled a follow up class with the same teacher. At this next visit, I inquired about how to become an instructor at the school. I discovered it was pretty easy. I simply had to become certified in PGA instruction, which did not take me long at all. Now I am proud to say that I am enjoying a second career, doing what I love. When people ask me if I’m retired I reply, “Not so much!” I may be retired from a 9 to 5 desk job, but am happily employed in instructing others in the game of golf. Working at a golf school is a great way to enjoy the beautiful Florida weather.
